No Tengas Miedo
2009
Sometimes my kids are scared to go into a room when there is no light. When I was little I felt the same way. I’m not sure if it was because of stories that I heard as a child or because I seen grown ups acting afraid. La Llorona and El Cucuy were both stories that I heard from my family in Tijuana. They were meant to scare people. A lot of grown people are afraid of these stories too. To me they have become metaphors for any fears a person might have. It is important to overcome fear. Fear is the biggest obstacle in accomplishing anything in life. Fear is a mind killer.
